Plomb ratchets from the 1930's have a distinctive look with their tapered head. They also had a removable drive plug.
Plomb manufactured screwdriver bits that fit in the square drive end.
Today, this plug seems like a bad idea, because it's easily lost. But perhaps to a mechanic in the early days, this was a useful feature.
